The Arccos Caddie app should use between 40-60 percent of your battery during an 18-hole round. If you operate your phone in Airplane Mode (iOS only) you should see about 20-40% battery drain. Android phones will not run the Arccos app in airplane mode; a workaround to save battery is to turn cellular data off.
Note: when using the phone in airplane mode, you must still enable bluetooth so that your putter sensor will work.
Battery use is also dependent on the phone and integrity of the battery itself, as well as the length of the round.
If you are experiencing difficulties getting through an entire round without exhausting your phone’s battery, it could be because other apps are also running simultaneously. Closing other apps that you are not using can significantly improve battery life. To close other apps, double tap on your iPhone’s home button, then swipe upwards on the app you want to close.
Another way to prolong your phone’s battery life is to disable Background App Refresh on your phone. To do this:
- Go into the Settings app on your phone
- Tap on the General button.
- Then tap on the Background App Refresh button.
- Here you can disable background app refresh for any non-critical apps.
